Hot fun in the summer.... NOT!!!

Hello sweeties I know its been a while since I last posted. I am sorry. I am just trying to make it though this summer alive!! It's been over 100 plus for days here in Ta Town. It's puzzling to me.. but I can't seem to find anyone that wants to come out or even knows how to fix my AC. I have decided after several weeks of having brain FRY... I have decided to put in a whole new heat pump unit. The AC man is suppose to contact me today to take some measurements. Lets hope by this time next week I have a new unit in my house.
Then hopefully I will be in the mood to start sewing and creating again.

When one is so hot all the time.. you only have three things on your mind...
here they are:
Ice-cream in a Mason jar.
All creamy, rich, sweet and inviting!!
Just right for that Aweeee factor!!

The number 2 item ...
I think of is:
Yummy yummy delicious cold juicy Watermelon!!

The most important and final thing that I have been craving is to try and win ...
Either a Accuquilt Go Baby or a regular sized Accuquilt Go ;)
Anyone want to give me one????
I would love to receive one and get one to give one away :)
I get chosen for all these reviews why not one of these ;)
Just saying.. ok see Brain Fry!!! LOL

I designed these little creatures about 25 years ago.
I keep thinking I will design more, but never have gotten around to it.

I have been searching the internet for the last few weeks looking for pinkeep patterns that are free. I have collected several... but I am still looking for more. Do you have any links or free patterns that you are willing to share with me???

Did I tell you these are For Sale in my Etsy Shop :)

A Fantastic Week

Other than my AC still being out and it reaching 104 this week .. all is well in the life of APP. Several members of my family are here visiting from CA this week. I am still amazed that my sister drove 1344 miles with two children under the age of  5 and two teenage girls... that had to be an interesting trip... and they still have to drive home!
I have been having some fun with the Clan.. the following photos were taken at the Ta Town Zoo last weekend... everyone had a great time.. but it was about 103 out... we drank lots of Polar ices, drinks and pop-cycles.
We found a nice shady place to sit and we had a great picnic of cold fried chicken, potato salad, grapes, and watermelon... so very yummy on such a hot day!

We are all going to try and get together on Sunday Evening for Pizza and a Movie ;) I will get to see them one more time on Wed evening before they leave to go home on Thursday! I have really enjoyed seeing everyone.. I just wish I could put them in my pocket and keep them like a saved kiss that someone blows to you .. when they are about to go :)
That way I can keep them close to me!!
I love them.. it has been so good to see them after our almost 2 year separation!!
I just wish I had more time to spend with them..obligations do.. really get in the way! Don't they?

Summer fun is upon us ;)

It's time for all those summer pic nics, outings and holiday fun... I have decided it would be great to share some fun stuff I have been seeing on the web to make your life easier during your outdoor activities. I know these ideas will make your holidays/outings so much fun...

Summer is picnic season, and with it come potlucks and covered dishes.  Instead of using foil or plastic wrap to cover your salad bowl, why not use an eco-friendly reusable fabric cover?  Allyson Hill shares a tutorial on her blog showing how to make this Eco Travel Lid.  Get the how-to.  (The tutorial is available from the side bar of her blog.)
Article obtained from Craft Gossip.com

Do you get thirsty on those long hikes that you make with your family and friends.. to the ballgame, Disneyland, Picnics... here is the perfect item for you a water bottle holder....
Get your tutorial at Pink Chalk Studio.

This next item... I love it.. I have used them often and also have made them and given them away as gifts. Almost all the guys in my family own one or two.. I even made a couple of them to give to my walking Postal carrier that comes to my station... He wears them each summer when the weather is around 100 degrees.. this article just reminded me.. I should probably make him a couple of new ones... I am sure the others are starting to get a bit worn.... You can find the tutorial at Little Birdie Secrets.... These are easy peasy to make!!

Here is another great way to go green Make your own Back pack from one of your favorite, but not quite worn out T-shirts. I have made a few of these and everyone loved them.. You can use your children's tees to make the back packs just the right size for them.. and adult tee's for you :) Find a great tutorial HERE.

One could always use a summer hat for shading your faces.. no one wants a sun burned nose ;) You will find a cute summer hat here at How-To.

Now that I have done all this research and posting and pasting.. its time for me to take a nap... I have provided you the perfect pattern for your napping needs... Click over to Life Style Lounge and make your own hammock.

See you after nap time... Pitty Pat where are you???? Lets go take a little snoozy wooosie ;)

Yummmmmmmmmy

I know everyone is going to be shocked my recipe this time is not Chocolate... Contrary to popular belief I do like other things besides Chocolate. One would not know this from all the Chocolate Recipes that I post here at APP's. I thought, I would show you an awesome idea along with a super simple dessert to serve to your loving family. My mind is running wild with all the super easy things that could be baked in these sweet little jars. Raise your hands how many of you like Peach Crisp/Cobbler... (this would be very easy to make too) Peach Crisp happens to be one of my favorite sweets. I use to make them all the time when there was family living at home. Now that I am round and voluptuous..... I try to stay away from a lot of desserts.
I do love looking at a good dessert ;)
Aren't these pretty?

The following Recipe was obtained from My Baking Addiction

Simple Cherry Crisp in Jars
yield | 4 servings
Ingredients
  • 3 cups canned or fresh cherry pie filling
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Evenly divide cherry pie filling between 4 individual oven-safe ramekins or jars.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine, flour, rolled oats, brown sugar and butter and mix until thoroughly combined.
  4. Evenly distribute the crumble topping on top of each individual servings.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Serve warm or at room temperature. Make these cherry crisps extra special by topping each serving with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

You can purchase these sweet little jars HERE.

Homemade Cherry Pie Filling

 Ingredients:

5 to 6 cups fresh pitted cherries, about 2 1/2 to 3 pounds ( I used Bing)
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2/3 cup granulated sugar
4 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Preparation:

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine cherries, water, lemon juice, sugar and cornstarch. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low and cook, stirring frequently, for about 10 minutes. Stir in almond extract. Cool slightly before using as a topping.

Notes:

-If using sour cherries, you will need to adjust the amount of sugar. I’d recommend starting about ¾ cup and working your way up if more sweetness is needed.
-Refrigerate leftover fresh cherry pie filling in a sealed container for up to 2 days.
-I have not tried freezing this cherry pie filling, but if you do, please let me know.
