Recycled Reusable Sandwich Bag

I came across this fun Tutorial at Noodleheads. Several of you have praticipated in my Upcycle Apron swaps. I saw this and said hey this looks like a lot of fun. I think I will try it. The only thing I would change is the inside of the bag. I would use that polyurethane coated nylon pack cloth. It has a long established roll in food safe bags for the outdoor sports folks. Or you could try food safe laminated cotton. I even read where women are using the inside plastic of Cereals boxes. I think one could fuse two or three of those together and have the perfect thicknesses. All I know for sure is what ever type of plastic you use it has to be food safe.

I found this awesome tutorial on how to make reusable bags using Mylar Snack Packaging. Source for getting Mylar Snack Packaging... many foods come in Mylar bags, especially food for snacking. Exp: Potato chips, Sun Chips, Oreos, Chips Ahoy's and so on.....

Please click on the photos to go to the web sites for the tutorials... I think the one using the Mylar is the best .. enjoy and if you make some bags share them with us ;)

Easter is coming up...

Here is a story that I wrote for Crafting with Lillie Mae's Newsletter..

I thought I would share it with all of my readers.

Do you have an Angel story to tell?

"Skip to my Lou"...or in Miss Pitty Pat's case, across two lanes of traffic.

My story.. when I was a wee tot of about 5 yrs my aunt was in the Navy. She was away in the service.. She came home from Germany and she brought her car home with her. Now there is a bit of confusion here on my part .... I was always told it was a VW. But my older Brother says it was a Renault. All I know is it was built different than American cars. I think my Aunt at the time was the only person in the State of Ks to own a VW or a Renault. Most people had never seen this type of car. My aunt use to get this huge laugh.. she would pull up in the service station and ask them to check her oil. She would pop the bonnet and the attendant would slam it down really fast and run to her window and say lady someone stole your engine. Well we all know that the engine for a Bug is behind :) She would get such a kick out of that.

Well me and this little car had a disagreement one afternoon. Aunt was driving down this highway doing about 55 mph toward home. Mom was in the front passenger seat and brother was in the back seat next to me. Well if you are old enough to remember the door handles worked opposite.. than the American door handles. I still can not remember to this day which way they worked.. You either had to pull up on the handle to lock it or that way opened it.. I am so old now I have forgotten. My aunt asked me to lock the door so I would not fall out. Guess what.. yep you guessed it instead of locking the door.. I opened it.. out I went flying lickity split across the two lanes of traffic. Brother says everyone in the car was shocked because all they could see was me rolling into the gutter. My Aunt turned white and mom started screaming... yes you guessed it brother was laughing his butt off and yelling hey I want to do that it looks like fun. The next thing I remember is waking up at the ER with all the penguins standing around me!! Yes it is a catholic Hospital. Aunt, Mom and Dr were all shocked that I didn't have any broken bones.. but I came through it with just a few scratches and bruises... I had an angel on my shoulder that day for sure.. I keep telling my family I can't drive 55. and they all know what I'm talking about :)

Alright this is my story and I'm sticking to it :)

Another week gone already???

This is the Oleo Ranch on Sunday the Second day of spring..
Sat the 20th of March was the first day of spring!
Can you believe we got snow.. the weatherman said we were to get 9-12 inches but I think we only ended up with about 6 total. The sun has came out and the snow is melting rapidly. It snowed quite a bit Friday and into Sat afternoon. A lot of it melted away Sat afternoon and much more today. Yes ladies this is typical weather for Oz Ks.
Wow I can not believed it.... another week has went by and I haven't done a thing in the sewing room. I tell you this being sick has really put a damper on my energy. Work has really picked up and it keeps me hopping, by the time I get home at night.... I don't even feel like blogging either. LOL one of my followers said... hey come on your slacking I miss your posts.. you use to post everyday.. sometimes twice a day :) LOL I just have to say maybe I am just setting you up for this summer when I will be busy around the house. I am going to have to spend a lot of my time painting the outside of the house this spring and summer. Its bare down to the wood in some places where the paint has chipped off so badly. I don't want to loose the wood siding by not doing any thing about the peeling paint. The wood deck needs to be re-stained this year too. I sort of stopped on my life style changes .. since I have not felt good. I need to get back to doing the things on that list. I will be outside building a storage shed in the next month or two. I have a lot planned for the next few months so I will be busy doing that stuff :) Which means the blogging might be less than it is now. Sorry... when you live alone it takes longer to do things.... :(
Speaking of doing things... if your Owl or Holly Jolly blocks are not received by the last day of this month... I will have to ship them back.. I am going to sort all blocks and have them shipped out shortly after that. So if you are still making blocks.. get the lead out and get a move on!! ;)
I am trying to wait as patient as I can!!! Oh yes if you owe me money for postage for the first block group sent..... some postage is still out standing.. please pay by my donate button here on the blog. Thank you that would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks
Now on to some really bad news for my followers and swappers. I have decided that I am no longer going to hold swaps on my blog, or at least for a while. I have had some really bad results with this last swap and it has really soured me as being a swap Mommy. I have had problems in the past .. but not like this swap. I am so sorry if you have been good to your word on my swaps. We all know the old adage that one bad apple spoils the whole bunch. Well there was more than one bad apple in my last swap. I have been disappointed and I know that some of my swappers are disappointed too... because I am getting several emails of inquiry regarding the blocks.
Finally
If your like me.. I love the Fall Holidays....I know this not holding swaps may not last for me. I have so much fun holding them.. but for now... I am not holding any. Although ....Everyone knows I love Halloween!! I will have to hold a swap for that for sure.. so keep checking back.. I hope to do something new and exciting for that swap. If you have any good ideas please send me an email with your suggestion.
Lastly I am always up for a PVT swap.. so if your interested in trading just give me a shout. If I can meet the request on time... I will try :)
Thanks and I am so sorry to disappoint those of you that love to participate in my swaps.

Angeled Annie for Maria

My sweet friend Maria is always my life saver when it comes to being an Angel for someone that did not get a swap package. She is the first to raise her hand to help me out. I am very lucky to have a swapper that is so kind and generous. Well ladies she was flaked on in my last two swaps. What are the odds that would happen to the same person at the same time. She did not receive an Annie nor did she receive her Halloween apron. I made this lovely little Annie for her. I didn't make her in costume this time.. but I dressed her in a fun Halloween color homespun. Then I added the bright themed print for the apron. I know it doesn't replace the excitement you get when you get your package during the swap, but I hope this little girl makes up for the disappointment you felt Maria.
All I know for sure is Maria ....is one sweet lady that will not go without a swap. I have made arrangements for one of my other dear friends to make her a Halloween Apron.

Maria says she has received her Annie and loves her ;)

Wonderful fun Purse

Isn't this a fun looking bag.. I found the tutorial for it at Bloom. This bag doesn't look very big but it looks like it would be the perfect size for a seasonal bag for Easter or any other fun Holiday. I can see this bag made with bright funky colors for that teenager in your life. Easy to make .. and you could always have something new and fresh in a snap. I just love the fold over flap. It keeps these easy and simple purses closed.. not letting your treasured items fallout!

Attention:

I had a new reader that asked a question about a pattern on the blog... please post me again. I was a silly little ninny and posted your comment before I took down your e-mail addy
and now I have spent 30 mins looking at comments and can't find your post.
Please forgive my error.. I am not trying to ignore you ;)

EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 50

As always, before starting any exercise program, consult with your doctor first....

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax. Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags.. Then try 50-lb potato bags and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level.)

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.

Received as an email :) I thought it was pretty funny :)

Getting Back into the Swing of Things ;)

What has Aunt Pitty Pat Been Up Too???

Here it is Tuesday and I have been so busy today. First off I woke up early started laundry, took all the trash out, cleaned the fridge... because its trash day, started getting my tax papers together, called the Dr, went to the post office and sewed 4 siggy blocks to ship out. Which by the way they were shipped out when I was on my way to the Dr's.. yeah caught up on those for now ;) I also worked at listing some things in one of my on line shops...... so what does that tell me???
Hummm......I must be feeling lots better ;) To have done that much in such a short time...its only 3 o'clock something here ;) I still have half a day to do something else ;)
I worked on my Owl blocks yesterday... all the pieces are set and I started stitching around them. They are coming out awesome.. or so I think LOL .. sort of art quilt looking. I just hope everyone else likes them as much as I do. Recently I finished up an Annie.. I can hardly wait to show it to everyone. It was for my sweet friend Maria in Canada. She got flaked on in the Halloween Annie Doll swap. So I made it up to her by making her a Doll :)
Speaking of sewing.. I better get up stairs and sew... I have 8 themed blocks to go and then the nine patches. After that I have to make an Easter Apron for another swap I'm in on Pins and Needles. I hope I can get all of this done on time.. since I was ill half the time we had to make our items. Knowing me I will be very close ;)

Here are a couple of my blocks :)
What do you think???

Aweeeeeeeee Thank You ;)

Hello Sweet Bloggy friends... one of my readers was right. I was still down and out the last few weeks. I am feeling a tad bit better each day. I awoke yesterday feeling the best I have in over three weeks. So that tells me that the 100,000 CCU's of Vit D weekly and other drugs are finally kicking in. I still have a long way to go until I am what I would call healthy.. but I am getting better each day.... Yeahhhhhhhhh!!!! I am so thankful for that. I felt like I was trudging through this big pit of thick thick mud , with concrete blocks attached to my feet..... and I could not move, and the pain I was feeling was almost unbearable. I just barely had enough go go juice in reserve for me to go to work each day. As soon as I got home each night.. I checked emails and then went straight to bed. After 3 weeks of new meds... most of the pain I was feeling is gone and I have regained back some of my energy. I have been very surprised at how badly one can feel when your body's Eco system is all out of whack. Then to add the flu on top of it... being sick really took its tole on me. I am very thankful for my wonderful doctor that knew what to do... I am most grateful for modern medicines.. that have helped me recover so quickly. I will have to have more tests in about 2 1/2 months, but for now ... I feel much better.

I wish to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, well wishes and emails during this illness. It's so nice to know that people have missed me and my wicked sense of humor ;) I have missed all of you too. I am sorry I did not get your comments responded to.. but I know you understand under the circumstances.

OK now for so fun stuff.

I spent the day yesterday with the baby sister and her oldest son. Her other two children were with their dad. The three of us had so much fun spending the day with each other...... Laughing, eating, chatting. My sister and her children are just so much fun. I love every moment I get to spend with them. They keep me laughing in stitches.
You ask what did we do???? Well this is what we did :)
My city hosts the Academy Award Shorts. These fun videos are presented through grants foundations, sponsors, libraries, and local movie theaters.
This is the 24Th year that our City has hosted this event.
My city is one of the few in the nation that has been granted permission to show the Academy Award nominated Shorts. The subjects of the shorts we were able to see, are in the categories of animation, live action and documentary... What is really awesome about getting to see these video shorts here in my city..... admission is...... free!!
As we sat there watching these creative works of art we laughed, we cried, we booed at these amazing shorts. I am always curious and interested to see the wonderful things that people create and dream up. One can not help but be awe struck at all the wonderful creations that people imagine and complete. After the viewing of the shorts... we started discussing which ones would win at the Academy Awards show.. yep you guess it... the ones we decided that were the best...... Won!!
So it was a fun day filled with laughter, jokes, videos, pizza, Academy Awards Show and yes APP's favorite Pepsi :)
