Everytime I read this I just laugh and laugh :}}}

Grandma is eighty-eight years old and still drives her own car.

She writes:

Dear Grand-daughter,

The other day I went up to our local Christian book store and saw a'Honk if you love Jesus' bumper sticker ..

I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting.

So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper. Boy, am I glad I did; what an uplifting experience that followed.

I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good He is, and I didn't notice that the light had changed.

It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn't honked, I'd never have noticed.

I found that lots of people love Jesus!

While I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy, and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, 'For the love of God!' 'Go! Go! Go! Jesus Christ, GO!'

What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus!

Everyone started honking!

I just leaned out my window and started waving and smiling at all those loving people.

I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love!

There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a sunny beach.

I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air.

I asked my young teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant. He said it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something. Well, I have never met anyone from Hawaii , so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign right back.

My grandson burst out laughing.

Why even he was enjoying this religious experience!! A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me.

I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed.

So, grinning, I waved at all my brothers and sisters, and drove on through the intersection.

I noticed that I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again and felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all the love we had shared. So I slowed the car down, leaned out the window and gave them all theHawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away.. Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks!!

Will write again soon,

Love, Grandma

Are you a Mean Green Cleaning Machine???

Here is an ugly thing to talk about the first thing on a beautiful Sunday morning!!! But I came across this awesome post from Dollar Store Crafts and I just had to share it with my wonderful friends. This offering is from Merwing-Little Dear’s for making your own Swiffer duster covers!

When you’re done using them, toss ‘em into the laundry! Now you have no excuse for not mopping and dusting! Evil, I know!
You can make them out of fleece blankets from the dollar store, or better yet, microfiber dusting cloths (yes, they sell those at the DS too!). There aren’t any instructions for making the Swiffer mop cover, but it looks pretty simple, doesn’t it?
Another fantastic.... simple.... fun idea ;O)
An easy peasy way to go green reusable cleaning cloths!!!!

A Pocket Full Of Posies :)

Aweeeeeeee aren't these the most fantastic little flowers you have ever seen. I can see a bunch of these setting in my kitchen window and being able to see them as I am doing dishes. What a way to brighten up a gloomy day. For the instructions run by and visit American Crafts Studio:
Not only will you find this project you will find other wonderful and fun things to do ;) If your into scrapbooking this is the site to visit. These ladies have done some fun and amazing things with paper!!!

Where is the Gel?????

I woke up this morning and I can't do a thing with my hair!!!

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

Its been a busy Tuesday Morning :)

I got up sort of early today on my day off and started sewing right away. Or well I should say as soon as I drank some of my Hello Good Morning Pepsi, and checked my emails and my little on line shops. Booo hiss no sales again today :(

Ok on with better stuff. I finished up my Private swap yesterday. I can't post photos of it because the finished products are a surprise to my Barter Partner. We both have skills the other one doesn't and we traded our talents. My sewing for her amazing creative eye :) I plan on getting her package posted in the mail either today or tomorrow depends on the available amount of time :)

Today is the day I have to go to trial on the Tonk Tonk Ba Donka Donk :) From when he was in Doggie Jail and supposedly bit the total stranger... who was playing ball with him. Wish me luck that I win my case. I am going to move to have the case dismissed as Discovery has not been complied with. I have not received reports requested from the City to prepare my case. We will see what happens tonite ;) It should be very interesting. I have prepared several questions for the witnesses. But I don't have some key documents that I need to review prior to trial. So we shall see :)

The Disappearing 9 patch blocks are starting to come in.. here are two blocks for your viewing pleasure ;)

Barbara G. USA

Angela L. USA

These are my Disappearing 9 patch blocks. The photo on top are the before whacked. The bottom photo is four blocks (mixed) after they were whacked. I have to tell you a story. I had every desire to use flowered material. I spent over 2 hours yesterday auditioning fabrics. I thought I was going to have to make a trip to town and go purchase some new materials. I just could not find 9 fabrics that went together nicely in my stash. But fate would have it I remembered I had these sets of Fat Quarters, that I purchased on sale. So Va la here are the whacked and chopped up finish fat Qts. I think they turned out pretty good :)

I tell you being a beginner quilt maker.. I am still having a few wonky seams.. any suggestions on how to fix that problem. I do use pins and sew a few inches and re-adjust. Seems like my blocks are not very sq. Is this normal?

I was also wondering when you join in on the block swaps do you square up before you ship them off or do you leave that up to the person who is getting the blocks?

Here is my next to final Annie that came in. I agreed to do a pvt swap with one on my followers :) Speaking of Annie's ... isn't this Annie adorable? I just love her she is so cute. She has these amazing little cloth shoes on and I love her sewed on hair. Look look she even has a little apron on and a little creature too :) This was a wonderful Annie made by Becky J.

I will try and work on my final Annie today also. I have to sew on her face and paint or sew on some shoes ;) I have not decided yet. Then if time allows I want to work on my new Annie pattern that I am trying to design. I am making a pattern for future Annie swaps here on my blog ;) I don't want to up set anyone by sharing and promotions of their products. Unless one of my sweet Annie lovers have designed and developed a pattern that they don't mind sharing for my swaps. Of course you would most certainly get the credit for letting us use your wonderful pattern :)

It's also time to go work on my 12 Themed Quilt blocks for the Halloween Spooktacular Block swap that I am in. I have already designed the block. Now its time to cut out the little pieces to applique together. There will be some hand sewing after the blocks are put together so I wanted to get the basics done today. So if I get a chance at work to blanket stitch some on breaks I can :)

PLEASE HELP!!! I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON MY HALLOWEEN BLOCKS. I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH SMALL HALLOWEEN PRINT MATERIALS.

If you have some left over scraps, ft qts , lol even yards :) that you are willing to share with me for free. Please send them my way!!! I would appreciate the help in finding some smaller print Halloween fabrics. I would even take some nice Halloween back ground print fabrics too. :) When ordering on line they usually want you to purchase a yard cut at a time.To get several different materials it would be out of my budget. Now.... is not the right season to find it in our local Jo Ann's store. LOL Yes I am being thrifty... and also trying to help you clear out your stashes :) I am trying to make Wonky House blocks. Everything I have is large Novelty prints. They don't seem to be cutting the muster!!! When making an eye pleasing block. I have to make 12 (12 1/2") square themed blocks and 12 (12 1/2") square 9 patch blocks using two colors. The 9 patch I have the needed amount of materials for them. But not all the different material prints for the Themed blocks. Yes you can say I am cyber begging!!!!! I am putting out this request for your help in finding enough Halloween small prints or back ground prints. To make my themed blocks ;)

Most of you all ready have my mailing address..Just go to the profile to find my e-mail address. Just E-mail and I will provide you with my address.

I will be happy to take your donations until the end of July :) Then its construction time :)

Thank you all for your help in this matter ;)

Icecream Cone Cup Cakes

I don't know about you .... but I am already thinking about the next holiday :) It's the 4th of July!!! Yeah!!! To help celebrate that wonderful day with family and friends... I have been thinking about what to take with me to the family gathering :) Well I thought this might be a very fun recipe to try out on them. I am sure some of you have seen or used this idea before. But I thought it was worth the repeat of posting it here. This recipe is from the Martha Stewart blog ;)

Baked inside sugar cones, these cupcakes-in-hiding combine the best aspects of an ice cream sundae (all those great toppings!) in a no-melt treat. The cones are adorned with buttercream and topped with the usual fixings -- whipped cream, colorful sprinkles, chopped nuts, melted chocolate, and even a cherry on top. Any leftover batter can be baked in minimuffin tins. An old-fashioned ice cream cone stand is a charming (and convenient) way to serve the cupcakes.
Ingredients
Makes 12
FOR CUPCAKES
12 sugar cones
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup sugar
3 large eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
3/4 cup milk

FOR DECORATING
Swiss Meringue Buttercream,

Makes about 10 cups
3 cups granulated sugar
12 large egg whites
2 pounds (8 sticks) unsalted butter, softened and cut into tablespoon-size pieces
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Directions
Whisk sugar and egg whites in a large heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water until sugar is dissolved and mixture registers 140 degrees.on an instant-read thermometer, 2 to 3 minutes.
Fit an electric mixer with the whisk attachment, and beat the egg-white mixture on high speed until it holds stiff (but not dry) peaks and mixture is fluffy and cooled, about 10 minutes.
Reduce speed to medium-low, and add butter several tablespoons at a time, beating well after each addition (meringue will deflate slightly as butter is added). Add vanilla; beat until frosting comes together, 3 to 5 minutes. Beat on lowest speed until air bubbles diminish, about 2 minutes. Stir with a rubber spatula until frosting is smooth.

plus 1/2 recipe chocolate variation (I could not find this instructions for this part of the recipe) Maybe you just drizzle chocolate into it. When making it.
Gel-paste food color, optional
Melted chocolate
Chopped roasted salted peanuts
Maraschino cherries
Assorted candy sprinkles

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Remove center of a 12-inch tube pan and cover pan with a double layer of heavy-duty foil. Use a skewer or paring knife to poke 12 small holes in the foil, 2 1/2 inches apart.

Gently place a cone in each hole, pushing it down until only about 1 inch of cone is showing.
Make cupcakes: Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. With an electric mixer on medium-high speed, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until each is incorporated, scraping down sides of bowl as needed. Beat in vanilla. Add flour mixture in three batches, alternating with two additions of milk, and beating until combined after each. Fill each cone with 2 to 3 tablespoons batter. Bake, rotating pan halfway through, until a cake tester inserted in centers comes out clean, 18 to 20 minutes. Transfer pan to a wire rack to cool completely.
Decorate cupcakes: Tint some of the buttercream pink with gel-paste food color, if desired. Use an ice cream scoop to place buttercream (untinted or pink) on top of cupcake, then top with sprinkles. For "soft-serve" cones, use a pastry bag fitted with only a coupler (or a large plain tip) to pipe buttercream in a swirl over cone, then top with multicolored sprinkles; or, for "sundae" cones, drizzle melted chocolate over buttercream, then sprinkle with peanuts and top with a cherry. For soft-serve "twist" cones, fill a pastry bag fitted with an open-star tip (Ateco No. 828) with untinted and chocolate buttercreams, placing them side by side in bag; pipe two-tone swirls. Serve immediately.

***** Most of the recipes.. I see the women just using regular frosting on these and they turn out nicely :)*****

Am I done yet???

Whoosh..............I just spent the last 4 1/2 hours on my blog getting it all cleaned up. So I don't have repeats on my blog listings. I have even sorted out most of my favorites. I went back and rechecked to see if their listings had added a follow button. If they did I added them to my list of blogs that I follow, and deleted them off the other list.

And here was the Pitty the whole time I was working on the computer... Yep you guessed it. Asleep in my lap all snuggly up under her blanket. It was sort of cool here in Ta Town this morning :) She was wrapped up so she could stay toasty warm as I worked along on my blog ;)

Don't you just love this huhhhhhhhhh what you want look???

I was even busy getting out emails to my swappers as the Annie Two Swap in now 2 weeks past. I have had several follow-ups from return emails. So yes this has been a busy bee mommie this morning.

Now its off to sew a bit and later today I am going to work on my KOI pond again. I almost have it all cleaned out. I now have to scrub the string algae off the sides with Vinegar and then rinse. After that its filling it up and making sure the pumps work and maybe in the next couple of days I can go to my friends and get the Koi he promised me :) Yeah the pond will be up and running again after two years of being down. I was not about to mess with it when I had my accident. Its been a two week ordeal already getting it emptied and clean out as it is. I am really getting excited about it though. I love the sound of the little fountains when I am setting out on the deck :)

Pillsbury Dough Boy Dies At Age 71

The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and complications from repeated pokes in the belly.
He was 71.
Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin.
Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the HostessTwinkies and Captain Crunch.
The grave site was piled high with flours.
Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded.
Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes.
Despite being a little flaky at times, he still, as a crusty old man, was considered a roll model for millions.
Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough; two children John Dough and Jane Dough; plus they had one in the oven.
He is also survived by his elderly father Pop Tart.
The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

I'm Laughing out loud!!!

The Pitty had another exciting day. I had to give the outside Chi's a bath as all of them had to go to the Vets today to get annual shots, heart worm check up and heart worm meds. First off Pitty was upset because the older two dogs were in the house eating her food and getting moms attention. Not that it mattered that mom was giving the older dogs a bath. Which the Pitty has a fit over. She hates them!!! I bet its because mommie puts that stinky froo froo juice on her!! Coconut fragrance to be exact.

Then all heck broke loose..... she had a real fit when mommie put them in the truck to go bye bye too!!!! She is use to driving by herself without having critics by her side!!!

We arrived at the Vets..... The New Vet had never seen Fatty Matty or Tigger (Tig). My little Matty is a puppy with some challenges.. she has one little leg that is a chicken wing.. most people call her the tri-pod. When she was born the vet said she probably got squashed in the womb.. and that is why her little leg did not develop. It was a real challenge when she was little as all her sibs wanted to pull on that little leg.. making it very very sore. She had to have pain meds once in a while to make her more comfortable. It was funny watching her learn how to run on three legs when she was little... she would take a few steps and tumble head over end. I wish I had a cool camera back then. I would have taken video clips of her to keep. Now she does really good getting around. Its like she does this little hop sort of thing and she can run and keep up with the rest of them. She is very fast now. Too fast for me to catch when I am getting after her for doing something she should not.... Like going out the front gate!!! I run to swat her with a switch.. but I miss by a mile but she knows she is in trouble!!!

Ok so back to the story at hand.. the vet asked if I had any concerns... well "yes Dr you have to be careful with Matty.. she is very shy and she is very scared of Vets." Well Doc B scratched her on her head and talked sweet and wham in went the shot... she didn't even know what hit her.. she was so good... Really good in fact I was shocked.. the last time she went to the vet they scared her so bad she yip and howled and did both of her jobs on the person that was holding her!!! I was mortified on that ... I can tell you!!!

Tig was a good boy like he always is.. he gives you this big brown watery eye look .. like hey I am so sweet.. lets be nice and forget all about that shot business. He has this sweet... big dark eyed look like a little bat.. His eyes are that dark :) Here it is.....Oh no Dr B gave him some pats and it was all over before he knew it. Tig and Matty both got treats for being such good babies. Yes Fatty Matty took both treats and sucked them right down. You see where she gets her name Fatty Matty.. she is a big chow hound. She was a real pig when she was a baby.. all round and chubby :)

The Mommie takes a deep breath........... here come the finish....

The Pitty!!!! Yes I said the Pitty!!!!! She yelped and cryed and fuss and acted like we were murdering her!!! Poor baby she jumped and it caused her little arm to bleed some and so that meant some extra pressure and I thought she was going to pass out right there... she was so mad at me she stayed on her own side of the truck and didn't want to help drive home. She would steal peeks to see if I was still in the truck.. but she would not come near me. Its been 4 hours now and she just came up for some lovins. Silly little girl... I feel so bad for her... I am such a mean mean Mommie!!!!

Not its for her own good...

heart worms!!!

bad bad stuff!!!!

I'm a good driver :)

I have to share with you my trip to Grandpa's.... says Pitty Pat :) I love to drive mommies truck when she will let me and its safe for the both of us ;)
We are just pulling out the drive way of our house. We have about 2 miles before we get to town and then I have to set in my own seat. Mommie purchased me.. my own buster chair and I can look out the window and see everything. I even act like I am driving when I'm in it too.
I am looking to see the progress on the new barn that they are putting up down the road. Yep looks like its coming along nicely :)
I see we are almost to town.. mommie will be booting me out of her lap soon.. as we will get on the highway to head to grandpa's house ;)

Here I am in the truck at grandpa's house. Mommie has to protect me as I forget I can't run all over the place there is lots of danger in the big city!! Speaking of danger here is one now!!! This is Cameo grandpas Great Dane :)
I am scared of Cameo.. because the first day I saw her she ran me up under a bush and I thought she was going to eat me!!! So I nipped her nose and she got a bloody nose. Now we only get to sniff through the fence. Because I am very scared of her!!! She out weighs me by about 125 lbs.. so mommie doesn't want me to get hurt.

Aweeeeee it was a long and exciting day.. oops I fell asleep at the wheel. Thank goodness mommie was helping me drive us home :)Yes I know this place.. this is where mommie lets me drive again :)

LOok mommie I see our house .. yeah we are almost home!!!

Mommie mommie we're home and look..... we just pulled up into the drive way... we are home safe and sound!!!

THE END :)

A busy week in Ta Town

Hey ladies it looks like its been a while since I posted last. I have been very very busy here doing my own thing so to speak. After you see my photos you will see why :)
Oops Andy is missing a shoe :)
These my friends are a huge pile of Annie and Andy bodies I have been working on this week. I almost have one Andy completed. I am having to design him as I am going along. I am having to re-adjust sizes from all the patterns that I now have. This body was a tad smaller than the other bodies ;) I have also been working on my own Raggedy Annie doll from scratch. I am designing a pattern that I can use in my swaps and not make anyone upset. I am here to have fun.. I will post more on the pattern later on down the road. I will show you as I make Annie and Andy dolls.

This is a wonderful and fun apron that I made my Step Mom for her birthday today :) It's made from Michael Miller fabric. I change this pattern too.... as I can never leave things the way they are :) I put on this very sweet heart shaped pocket. I thought it made it feel like.... it was made from the heart. I want her to know I love her ;)
I even took the time to make my own bias tape :) wow I sure did get a lot of steamed fingers doing this. I found that the bias tape makers are fun to use.. but you have to be very careful with them. As they don't always fold the fabric right. I had to go back several times to re-fold. But that's ok that is where all the fun comes in. Learning how to use a new tool and discovering a new technique.
Here is the happy owner of this wonderful apron. She just gushed over it.. she really loved it :)

This is my apron that I received from my sweet partner Maria. This was my up-cycled apron made by her. Isn't it funny how she and I had the same exact idea as far as the buttons down the front of the apron? I love it. Now I don't have to feel so bad I sent out the Angled up-cycled apron that I made. You will read about it further down this posting ;)

This is the little Annie that Lisa received from me. All my swappers got a pouch and tea/drink wallet with their swap as my extra. I really like how this little girl turned out. I am sorry you can't see her really well ..but this is one of the photos that remained after the camera dropped almost all the photos.

Photo from my swap partner Lisa's blog :)

This is my sweet Sophie Rose I received from my swap partner Lisa from South Wales from the Uk... Isn't she adorable :) I just love her pigtails and the wonderful shabby pink clothing and sage green shoes. Thank you Lisa :)

Here is my Angel-ed Apron that I made for one of my swappers that did not receive a package. She had the un-fortunate luck to get one of the swap-lifters. She has received it and loves it :) LOL this apron was also one that was hard for me to let go... because I love how it turned out :)

This is the back of the jumper that I used.. I was bad and forgot to take the before Photo .. so I did the best I could with the remaining materials ;)

Here is the front of the jumper that I used on my up-cycled apron :) I know not much left but I think you can imagine what it might look like ;)

This is the finished apron.. the apron color was more like the extras photo color. I loved this apron.. it looks very very girly :)

These are the extras that I made ;)

ANNIE #2

Here is an Annie I made for Viv from Viv on a whim :) This was the Annie #2 swap. She has received the Annie and she loves her :) I also included a tea/drink wallet and a nice pouch with it as extras.
